Kintsukuroi
In Japanese, meaning “golden repair,” kintsukuroi is the exquisite art of mending broken pottery with lacquer dusted in gold, silver, or platinum—and it becomes the perfect, luminous metaphor for Kerwin Berk’s sweeping historical epic. Set against the turbulent backdrop of the 1940s, the film traces two Japanese American families shattered by U.S. wartime politics, who—against impossible odds—must find a way to piece themselves back together, stronger and more radiant in the cracks.
